DeKalb Alternative School is seeking an English Teacher (HS) to implement high academic expectations for all students. The teacher will plan and deliver instruction, work with colleagues, and communicate effectively with families.

The role involves teaching the standard curriculum, supporting diverse learners, and using both in-person and virtual learning tools to monitor progress and ensure student success in a dynamic, standards-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a Georgia PSC-approved college or university.
• Valid PSC-approved teaching certificate in the appropriate field.
• Endorsements in ESOL and Gifted required.
• Certification alignment with Georgia PSC for Special Education as applicable.

Responsibilities

• T​eachs grade-appropriate, subject-specific, and mandated curriculum.
• Develops and delivers lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning.
• Communicates with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video conference.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment for physical, social, and emotional development.
• Assesses and documents student progress and attendance.
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance and adheres to district policies.
