Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools seeks a full-time Bilingual Education Social Studies teacher at Proviso West High School to serve grades 9-12. The position requires IL PEL/ELS and a Spanish bilingual endorsement; ESL endorsement preferred.

The teacher will design standards-aligned instruction, differentiate for diverse learners, track progress in the SIS, and collaborate with counselors and families to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or meets minimum requirements to be eligible for an Educator License with Stipulations (ESL) Endorsement
• Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) for grades 9-12
• Endorsement: Bilingual Education - Spanish (Grades 9-12) and any of the following: Social Science - Economics (Grades 9-12), Social Science - Geography (Grades 9-12), Social Science - History (Grades 9-12), Social Science - Political Science (Grades 9-12), Social Science - Psychology (Grades 9-12), Social Science - Sociology & Anthropology (Grades 9-12)

Responsibilities

• Teach to prescribed outcomes and goals to lead to positive student outcomes
• Differentiate for students with special needs, language needs, or different learning styles
• Track, monitor, and post student progress in SIS weekly
• Communicate regularly with parents, students, counselors, and support staff
• Establish a positive and safe, student-centered learning environment
