Job summary

KIPP DC Public Schools seeks a High School Dedicated Aide to support students with special needs, implementing IEP-based strategies and assisting daily activities in a fully in-person setting at a Washington, DC campus.

Role emphasizes collaboration with lead teachers, data collection to track progress, confidentiality, and flexible duties as students’ needs evolve. Training includes Crisis Prevention Institute. Work hours align with the school day and site protocols.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated ability to support reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Strong communication skills with families and caregivers; culturally responsive partnership.
• Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to new tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in safe environments and meet diverse learners’ needs.
• Assist with implementation of IEP-based behavioral and academic strategies.
• Aid students with personal care and daily activities as applicable.
• Collect data to monitor student progress and report to teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• De-escalate student behaviors using various strategies.
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Be flexible as student needs change, including possible reassignment to another campus.
• Provide instructional support in math and reading under lead teacher supervision.
• Cover classes when needed and participate in weekly planning.
