Challenge Charter School in Far Rockaway, NY seeks a Culinary Arts Teacher to deliver instruction in food safety, commercial production, and culinary arts. You will build relationships with families and maintain high expectations for student achievement.

The role emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogy, rigorous curricula, and collaboration with staff to support 9-12 grade students across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• NYS Teaching Certification in Culinary Careers or pursuing certification.
• Food Protection Certificate or equivalent required or in progress.
• CTE/Culinary credentials highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers culinary arts curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs students in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior to ensure an orderly learning environment.
• Plans and coordinates work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
• Communicates with parents and staff on student progress and development.
