Job summary

Gallup-Mckinley County Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach - Assistant Cross Country for Gallup High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This on-site role focuses on developing cross country skills, team strategy, and positive student development. The fall sport contract emphasizes guidance and supervision of student-athletes and assistants.

The coach will instruct fundamentals, coordinate practice plans, and model sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork while working evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Has ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has prior successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Head coach must know technical aspects and stay current with theory and procedures.
• Head coach must model appropriate behavior for student athletes.

Responsibilities

• Report to the athletic director with objectives and evaluations.
• On-site attendance is mandatory.
• Supervise and support a staff of high school and middle school coaches.
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and training.
• Work includes evenings and weekends.
