Job summary

St. Anthony Catholic High School in San Antonio seeks a dedicated High School Counselor to support students' social, emotional, academic, college and career development. You will assist in planning the campus master schedule and collaborate with staff to meet graduation requirements.

Job description

Position Summary

St. Anthony Catholic High School, a private, college preparatory High school for young men and women, is seeking a High School Counselor. The Counselor is responsible for supporting all St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) students in their social, emotional, academic, college, and career development. Position will ensure students receive the courses required to meet graduation requirements for their proposed endorsement, as well as assist in planning the campus master schedule. All staff are expected to work within the mission of SACHS and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity; Community; Service & Social Justice; Scholarship; and Holistic Education. The Counselor reports to the High School Principal.

Essential Functions

Job Duties

Knowledge Skills And Abilities
  • Adherence to daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential;
  • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance;
  • Knowledge of Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Programs;
  • Ability to adjust and modify program implementation to best serve students, evidenced in positive social, emotional and academic growth;
  • Knowledge and experience with career assessment tools and college board;
  • Knowledge of House Bill 5 Endorsements;
  • Ability to clearly articulate and discuss the counseling program to the community;
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education

Master's Degree in Counseling or other related mental health field.

Required Work Experience

One (1) year counseling and advising students in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling and advising students in an academic setting.
  • Knowledge of Naviance.
  • School Counselor Certification.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:45 am -5:00 pm; occasional weekends and evenings required to meet departmental goals and attend special events such as Open House.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage potential and current students and respective family members, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
