Job description

High School Computer Science Teacher

Description:

Teachers at Everett High School are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students. Teachers must work collaboratively with the Special Education and English as a Second Language teachers and support staff throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. Teachers should be well versed in providing accommodations for students whose IEPs dictate inclusion services in several content area settings. Teachers should also be well versed in Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices to support English Learners. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.


Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Education, or related field
  2. Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS)
  3. SEI Endorsement
Preferred Requirements:
  1. Master's Degree in Education and/or Computer Science
  2. 3 or more years of teaching experience
  3. Experience working in an urban public schools setting
  4. Foreign Language Proficiency
  5. Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
Duties:
  1. Plan and facilitate lessons
  2. Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging math lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills and remote accessibility
  3. Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions
  4. Administer assessments and utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students including iReady, MCAS, and ACCESS, as well as district-wide formative assessments
  5. Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners
  6. Incorporate Speaking, Reading, and Writing activities that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency into daily instruction
  7. Utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students
  8. Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations
  9. Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps
  10. Collaborate with guidance counselors to refer students who require Social Emotional support
  11. Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered
  12. Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Math Department Chair, Principal, and Assistant Principals.

Based on the Everett Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
