Job summary

Newington High School is seeking a vocal music teacher to lead multiple choir ensembles and develop a strong vocal music program. The role includes guiding students toward artistic excellence and collaborating with staff to enhance overall music education.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion for choral music education, meet the Music (#049) certification requirement, and be willing to support theater initiatives or obtain the necessary theater certification (#042).

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college with an advanced level degree preferred.
• The position requires specialized licensure in music.
• Candidate should be prepared to lead multiple choir ensembles and develop a robust vocal music program.

Responsibilities

• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and engages diverse learners.
• Plans daily and long-term activities aligned with the district curriculum.
• Interprets curriculum to foster musical growth and prepares performances.
• Organizes and conducts performances for parents, schools, and community groups.
• Leads high school musical productions as part of a stipend co-curricular duty.
