Knox County Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position:

High School Science Teacher-Chemistry

Location: Gibbs High School

School Year: 2025-2026

Job Summary:

To instruct students in the assigned areas as directed by the Board, Superintendent, and Principal.

Qualifications:

• All teachers must be licensed according to state law and Tennessee State Department of Education regulations. Licenses should be on file with the Superintendent prior to employment.
• It is the employee's responsibility to obtain and maintain a valid certification. If a teacher's certification lapses or becomes invalid, the Superintendent shall suspend the teacher without pay pending resolution, with an opportunity for a hearing.
• Teachers should demonstrate competency based on current job standards and evaluation models.
• Additional qualifications may be considered acceptable at the discretion of the Superintendent.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

1. Report to the Principal/Supervisor.
2. Cooperate fully with all reasonable instructions and additional assignments from the principal.
3. Instruct students in assigned areas as directed.
4. Accurately record daily attendance as prescribed.
5. Follow state and local curricula, rules, regulations, and policies.
6. Maintain positive relationships with parents, the community, and colleagues.
7. Inform parents about student progress and hold conferences as needed.
8. Report concerns about student health or welfare related to abuse or neglect.
9. Establish and maintain respectful working relationships within the school environment.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
