Job summary

Qualifications

• A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
• The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach at an appropriate instructional level.
• Provide content development.
• Assist all students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations for performance.
• Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments.
• Monitor student progress.
• Respond to adequate and inadequate student performance.
• Support students with encouragement.
• Use time efficiently.
• Maintain effective physical setting for instruction.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
• Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
• Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
• Integrate the use of technology and multi‑media in the classroom.
• Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
• Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner
• Participate in training programs and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning
• Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities
• Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
• Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
• Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
