Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study tailored to meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Guide the learning process to achieve district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the physical setting and student capabilities.
- Implement the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations through instruction and actions.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policies.
- Diagnose learning challenges and seek assistance from district specialists when necessary.
- Ensure safety precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Follow the district's code of conduct, develop classroom behavior rules, and enforce them fairly.
- Plan and supervise paraprofessional assignments and conduct evaluations.
- Pursue ongoing professional growth aligning with district and personal goals.
- Participate actively in the teacher evaluation process and contribute to mutual agreements.
- Attend meetings to promote communication and decision-making among staff.
- Participate in school-sponsored activities as agreed upon.
- Contribute to district decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff well-being.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
Qualifications
- Highly qualified with competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Business) and grade level (5-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license; Master's Degree preferred and expected within 5 years.
