Job summary

James River High School in Chesterfield County is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Soccer. The position provides leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction for varsity and junior varsity teams, and works with the athletic director to support program needs.

Responsibilities include teaching fundamentals, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, ensuring safety and VHSL compliance, handling equipment and fees, and communicating with players, families, staff, and the media.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environment.
• Working knowledge of athletic program regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in all phases of the game; work with athletes to improve personal and teamwork skills.
• Coordinate with staff to evaluate program needs and promote proper use of school property.
• Handle equipment purchases, inventory and fee collection; participate in fund-raisers.
• Organize records and VHSL forms; ensure health and safety compliance.
• Communicate with team, staff, parents, administration, community and media.
