Job summary

Upper Darby High School in the Upper Darby School District is seeking a seasonal Boys' Basketball Assistant Coach. The candidate should demonstrate strong coaching technique, leadership, and mentoring ability, and relate well to students within a diverse school community.

Qualifications include prior coaching experience, excellent communication, and knowledge of strength and conditioning. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it is required, along with meeting PA public school

Qualifications

• Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at high school/college level.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students.
• Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including practices and conditioning.
• High school or collegiate playing experience.
• CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified.
• Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School.

Responsibilities

• Report to: Director of Athletics.
• Successful candidates will have knowledge of the sport and will demonstrate effective coaching technique, leadership and mentoring skills.
• Qualified candidates will enhance the School's commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

• The Coach will perform other duties requested by Athletics Director and/or administrator.
• Observe the rules of the attending athletic associations and leagues.
• Provide leadership and general team management in daily practice, skills, and character development.
• Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport.
• Attend coaches' meetings and collaborate with assistant coach(es) and student manager.
• Establish and maintain relationships with coaches, staff, students, parents, and community.
• Evaluate players' skills and select team rosters.
• Responsible for team equipment and keeping scorebook current.
