Job summary

PIONEER VALLEY PERFORMING ARTS seeks a full-time Biology Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to educate grades 9–12 in biology with laboratory skills, biochemistry, genetics, ecology, and evolution. The role emphasizes collaboration, reflective practice, and connecting classroom biology to real-world contexts.

Responsibilities include planning curricula, supervising students, assessing work, and reporting progress through PowerSchool, with a focus on anti-racist teaching and adherence to PVPA

Qualifications

• BA degree required, background check CORI/SORI and fingerprinting.
• Computer literate.
• Eligible for MA Certified or able to pass MTEL within 1 year.
• SEI endorsement preferred.
• 2+ years teaching biology in public or private school (secondary level) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach five classes per semester.
• Use anti-racist, anti-oppression framework in curricula and materials.
• Plan curricula and prepare course expectations and materials.
• Supervise students during non-class time as required.
• Assess student work and provide timely feedback via PowerSchool.
• Apply PVPA standards-based grading in reporting progress.
• Attend regular collaborative team meetings and professional development.
• Attend and participate in meetings with students/parents as scheduled.
• Coordinate with special educators to address diverse learners.
• Other duties as required.
