Job summary

Lorena ISD High School is seeking an Instructional Aide (Behavior Intervention Assistant) to support students with disabilities in a Texas high school setting. Qualifications

• Certified as outlined in No Child Left Behind
• High School Diploma or GED with “Highly Qualified” training certification; or at least 48 hours of college or an associate’s degree
• Ability to work well with students and adults and to communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials under teacher direction for participation of all special education students.
• Assists in developing, implementing, and modeling behavior and instructional support plans for individual student needs.
• Assists in preparing and adapting instructional materials to facilitate learning.
• Trains staff, parents, and pupils in specialized instructional strategies used for behavior intervention.
• Collects data and conducts assessments for behavior support services and progress reporting.
• Implements and models alternative communication intervention strategies for teaching students to communicate.
• Implements social skills development techniques to aid academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP teams for students with behavior disorders.
• Monitors and records data on academic/behavioral progress for identified goals.
• Reports observations or incidents to appropriate personnel for documentation.
• Supervises students during assemblies, field trips, lunch, recess, and movement to maximize independence.
