Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking an assistant coach to support the head coach in running the school’s athletic program at Mills E Godwin High School. You will help organize practices, supervise student-athletes, and contribute to fundraising, travel safety, and sportsmanship.

You will prepare athletes for interscholastic competition and assist with equipment, clinics, and day-to-day program operations, with regular attendance and commitment to program success.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a public-school athletic program.
• Proven ability to coordinate high-level practice sessions.
• Prior experience in preparing athletes for interscholastic competitions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in the organization of the overall program.
• Assist in the supervision of student-athletes during daily practices and at games.
• Prepares players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching of fundamental skills, and knowledge of rules.
• Assists in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.
• Attends all required VHSL clinics.
