Job summary

Community High School District 218 is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Baseball Coach to support student-athlete development in baseball and align with the Shepard Athletic Department mission. The role involves teaching fundamentals, supervising practices and events, and assisting in planning competitions.

Candidates must hold ISBE, ASEP, or NFHS certification, with high school coaching experience preferred. The stipend is set by district Appendix II; external hires may have limited benefits.

Qualifications

• Certification required: ISBE, ASEP, or NFHS.
• High school coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of IHSA policies and district expectations.

Responsibilities

• Teach baseball fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and events.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled practices, contests, and team functions.
• Plan practices, manage games, and conduct skill instruction.
• Monitor and enforce eligibility, safety, and conduct requirements per IHSA/ISBE rules.
• Chaperone and supervise athletes at events to promote a positive team environment.
• Maintain a safe environment and report injuries promptly to staff.
• Complete required paperwork, attendance logs, and communicate with parents and administration.
• Attend coach meetings and required professional development.
