Job summary

Oakland Schools seeks a Baseball Assistant Coach at Southfield A&T High School for the 2026-2027 season. The role reports to the Athletic Director and will assist in developing a competitive high school program.

Responsibilities include organizing practices and games, teaching fundamentals, planning skill-driven sessions, supporting academics, and upholding safety and sportsmanship. A stipend of $2,700 per SEA/CBA is paid at season end per the posted schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous baseball coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
• Comprehensive knowledge of baseball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
• CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Awareness certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Must meet district and state athletic certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Organize, plan, and oversee all aspects of the baseball program.
• Teach baseball fundamentals, mechanics, and strategies.
• Develop detailed practice plans focusing on skill progression.
• Foster academics, teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
• Monitor academic progress to ensure eligibility.
• Supervise travel to away games and tournaments.
• Manage baseball equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
• Communicate with players, parents, and staff about schedules.
• Ensure compliance with district, league, and state rules.
• Collaborate with assistant coaches for consistent instruction.
• Represent the program positively in the school and community.
