Job summary

Responsibilities include planning rehearsals, directing performances, and maintaining accurate records. Collaboration with staff and parental involvement are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Masters degree preferred.
• Ability to play an instrument or instruments.
• Ability to instruct students in singing, harmonization, and chorus.
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and differentiated instruction.
• Knowledge of English grammar, word usage and connotations.
• Knowledge of data information systems and data analysis.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation for professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers a music education curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Maintains a safe, conducive classroom for individual and small-group instruction.
• Plans balanced music lessons with time for practice and performance.
• Assesses student learning and adapts instruction to needs, including for students with disabilities.
• Uses diverse repertoire appropriate for grade levels and abilities.
• Plans rehearsals and directs student performances outside the classroom.
• Keeps professional knowledge current via seminars and research.
• Maintains records of student activities, grades and attendance as required.
• Communicates with parents to encourage involvement in education.
• Ensures students conduct aligns with school standards and policies.
• Collaborates with colleagues and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Requisitions music supplies and maintains inventory.
