Job summary

Lees Summit R-7 School District is seeking an AVID Tutor for Lee's Summit West HS to support AVID students 2 days a week (Tue/Thu), 4 hours each day (7:20–11:20). Starting Oct 1, 2026, a minimum of 3 hours daily tutoring is required within the AVID elective class.

Responsibilities include tutoring in math, conducting mini-lessons, and coordinating with AVID staff for student progress. Training and transcripts required; $18 per hour; part-time position.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or graduate of a technical college or university.
• Minimum 2.5 GPA for college students with transcript.
• Degree in mathematics, English language arts, or education.
• Complete the AVID Tutor Training Course and provide docs.

Responsibilities

• Develop academic and personal strengths of AVID students.
• Serve as a role model and maintain professional attire.
• Assess concepts from notes and discussions to guide tutoring.
• Evaluate student binders, calendars, and notes for progress.
• Research AVID materials to assist AVID students.
• Conduct math tutoring sessions; strong math background required.
• Facilitate writing process across subjects and study skills.
