Job summary

Michigan Association of School Boards is seeking a CTE Auto Technology Teacher for Fitzgerald High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The position follows the FEA contract and requires aligning instruction with Michigan standards.

The teacher will plan and assess, implement curriculum, and differentiate instruction using Edgenuity and other tools. Strong communication with staff and support for at-risk students is essential.

Qualifications

  • Standard or professional Occupational Certificate CIP code 47.0604.
  • Eligible for Annual CareerAuthorization certificate – achieved with 4000 hours of work experience in the Automotive Industry in the last ten years.
  • ASE Certification in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Electrical (A6), and Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) or Master Technicians with A1-A8 exempt from G1.
  • Experience in high school classroom instruction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with at-risk students.
  • Patience with diverse populations and language barriers; valid Michigan Teaching Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assess, and instruct using Michigan standards.
  • Implement curriculum per state standards and district curriculum.
  • Update CIP self-review and fulfill CTE requirements annually.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Interpret data from ongoing assessments to inform instruction.
  • Participate in professional development and implement best practice.
  • Encourage progress and adjust teaching strategies for individual students.
  • Provide learning materials and collaborate with teachers/administrators to improve achievement.
