Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsements in SM (Learning Disabilities), SE (Emotional Impairment) or SV (Autism Spectrum Disorder) preferred.
• Ability to manage time and work independently.
• Maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience to work with diverse populations and language barriers.
• Experience with data-driven decision making.
• Familiar with common core standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues for course planning and skill assessment.
• Implement common core essential elements in instruction.
• Participate in professional development and apply best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to support students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student engagement.
• Develop and administer assessments to monitor competency and learning plans.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Instruct students to improve academics through a structured course of study.
• Manage student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy and regulations.
• Accommodate learning disabilities with support from district specialists.
• Participate in co-teaching with a special education teacher.
• Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
