Job summary

Oakland Unified School District seeks an Athletic Coach to instruct and coach students in the sport indicated and assist in organizing schedules for the season. Responsibilities include performing coaching duties and attending required meetings and trainings.

Preference given to current certificated district employees with a valid CA teaching credential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of coaching theory, safety, CIF policies, and effective communication with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Provide written evidence of knowledge of coaching theory and techniques in the sport.
• Knowledge of high school sport rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation.
• Ability to maintain safety standards in practices and contests.
• Demonstrated high ethical standards related to sportsmanship and relationships with students.
• Ability to communicate with parents/guardians and school staff during emergencies.
• Knowledge of CIF athletics policies and school district athletics policies.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and coach students in the indicated sport.
• Help arrange playing schedules.
• Perform/assist in all coaching responsibilities for the position.
• Attend required meetings and trainings as specified by OAL.
