Job summary

Maricopa Unified School District is seeking a High School Athletic Director/Assistant Principal to lead athletic programs and administer school activities under the High School Principal. This 12-month exempt administrative role involves overseeing athletic programming, budgeting, and coordination with coaches, events, and facilities.

The Successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and AZ Administrator certification, with prior athletic directorship experience

Qualifications

• Required: Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field; Arizona Department of Education Certification as Administrator before start of employment.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in a management/leadership position within education and a minimum of three (3) years successful athletic directorship in a middle/high school setting.
• Experience working cross-culturally and commitment to cultural competence and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Provides athletic leadership to students, faculty and staff.
• Observes and evaluates the instructional performance of coaches.
• Helps coordinate athletics, events and facilities scheduling.
• Oversees the High School’s athletic programming in all areas including coordination of events, venue prep, and contracting officials.
• Monitors academic eligibility for all student athletes; secures necessary coaching staff and equipment.
• Represents the school to local governments and community organizations.
