Job summary

Brookings-Harbor High School seeks an Assistant Track Coach for the Spring Season to support the athletic program. The role provides a stipend and involves assisting the Head Coach, coordinating with the Athletic Coordinator, and ensuring proper care of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience and/or training in coaching and athletics is required.
  • Ability to coach with integrity and promote sportsmanship.
  • Ability to manage equipment and facilities and to coordinate athletic activities.
  • Completion of district-required trainings within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid 1st Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.

PURPOSE: The Assistant Coach assists with the athletic program of a specific sport. The Assistant Coach plays a support role to the Head Coach.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Coordinator
INDIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Head Coach
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  • Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District's Mission.
  • Role model good sportsmanship, fair play and ethical conduct.
  • Role model and expect good conduct of coaches, players and managers under his/her direct jurisdiction and report serious misconduct to the AthleticCoordinator or Principal.
  • Assume responsible for the care and marking equipment, supplies and physical properties used by the participants in the particular activity and submitting an inventory at the close of the season.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with school personnel, students, and parents. Effectively works and communicates with students, parents, and staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds including those who speak limited or no English.

  • Working knowledge of specific sport fitness, safety methods, and techniques
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful coaching experience in appropriate sport
  • Must have excellent moral character
  • Must have excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Valid 1st Aid (completed within 60 days from date of hire and to be maintained for the duration of this job)
  • Type II Driver's License or willingness and ability to obtain (maintained for the duration of this job)
  • Successful Oregon State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
  • Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is typically performed outdoors or in a gymnasium; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.WORK YEAR: SeasonalEmployee Group: Non-representedFLSA Status: ExemptDate Revised: May 5, 2015
