BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT ATHLETICS in Bloomfield, NM is seeking an Assistant Coach (Secondary) to support the program under the head coach. The role emphasizes leadership in player and staff development, integrity, and adherence to NMAA policies.

Qualifications include valid state coaching certification, preferred teaching experience, and knowledge of sport strategies. The position is part-time with duties spanning preparation, supervision, and safeguarding student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Valid state coach certification.
• Employment as a teacher in the school district is preferred.
• Ability to organize and supervise the total sports program.
• Previous high school coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and willingness to learn.
• NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety; NFHS Bullying; NFHS Protecting students from abuse; NFHS Concussion in sports; CPR/AED certification; NFHS Football tackling (football applicants only) on file.
• External candidate must have satisfactory background check. Non-refundable fee.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing all team rules and related policies.
• Prepare travel rosters and itineraries prior to departure.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
• Promote fair play, sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
• Assist head coach with scheduling and coaching assignments.
• Develop a positive athlete-teacher relationship and supervise athletes.
• Ensure athletes are academically eligible and safe.
