Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, school-based role at a Maryland high school for the 26/27 academic year. Work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM (37.5 hours/week).

Responsibilities include interpreting in classrooms and activities, facilitating communication among staff, students, and peers, and participating in IEP meetings. Requirements include educator certification, EIPA 75% written test, or NIC from RID, plus high school experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Educator certification.
• EIPA written test score at least 75%.
• Either EIPA 4.0+ on the performance test or NIC from RID.
• Experience in a high school setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; foster accessible learning.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, students, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a male high school student during instruction and school activities.
• Facilitate communication between student, teachers, and peers to ensure participation.
• Adapt interpreting strategies to meet educational and developmental needs.
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to progress monitoring.
