Job summary

Fall River Public Schools is hiring a Teacher of Students with Special Needs at the high school level. The role focuses on delivering instruction and support aligned to students' IEP/504 plans at B.M.C. Durfee High School.

The candidate will collaborate with School Psychologists and other staff to ensure optimal learning outcomes, participate in evaluation processes, and maintain required documentation in a diverse urban setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Special Education from an accredited college/university.
• Massachusetts license valid for K-12 teaching.
• Experience in regular and/or special education settings preferred.
• Commitment to diversity and closing achievement gaps.
• Mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills.
• Experience designing/implementing standards-based instruction.
• Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
• Culturally responsive teaching and competencies.
• Knowledge of integrating information literacy, technology, and 21st century skills into MA Curriculum Frameworks/CCSS.

Responsibilities

• Direct duties under building principal for routine administrative matters.
• Collaborate with staff for delivery of services identified in IEP/504 plans.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments with other special education staff.
• Consult with regular and special education teachers to meet needs of students.
• Promote integration of students with special needs.
• Participate in evaluation processes and TEAM meetings.
• Chair Review and Annual Review meetings for students.
• Administer educational assessments for Annual Reviews/Re-evaluations.
• Assist in developing educational plans as directed by Evaluation TEAM Chairperson.
• Ensure timely implementation of educational plans.
• Consult with parents as needed.
• Maintain required records and submit schedules/reports to administrators.
• Collaborate with other specialists on joint case implementations.
