Job summary

Common Ground High School is seeking a dedicated Art Teacher for a 1.0 FTE position. The role involves teaching integrated 10th grade Art and an elective, in a school focused on environmental justice and community engagement in New Haven.

The ideal candidate will bring a data-driven, compassionate approach to instruction, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and promote family engagement while supporting varied learners through culturally relevant curricula.

Qualifications

  • Experience with arts education and arts integration, including multiple art forms.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with community partners.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches.
  • Experience with place-based, experiential learning methods.
  • Familiarity with Google applications and online learning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Integrated 10th grade Art classes and an Art elective.
  • Support 10th grade core curriculum with a culturally relevant, social justice focus.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and special education staff to support varied learners.
  • Develop materials and lesson plans for diverse instructional needs.
  • Review student performance data and maintain records and reports.
  • Engage families in students' educational progress.
