CENTRAL LINN SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: AG TEACHER and FFA Advisor

DEFINITION:

Licensed and certified teacher with the opportunity to lead a comprehensive and growing FFA program in the heart of the Willamette Valley. This position is also responsible for fulfilling the duties of the FFA advisor; a stipend position in addition to contract specified compensation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Demonstrates an understanding of content area, human growth and adolescent development.
• Possesses a variety of instructional techniques and uses instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and utilizing district approved curriculum where available.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
• Is capable of instructing in this subject area in a manner that would be reasonably expected of a teacher in this assignment.
• Demonstrates the ability to use clear, effective oral and written communication.
• Determines, writes, and evaluates, instructional objectives consistent with district philosophy and strives to implement those objectives by instruction and action.
• Has the ability and knowledge to manage and organize the classroom so that an efficient learning environment exists.
• Cooperates with other members of the staff in the development of district curriculum and planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Demonstrates understanding of student testing and evaluation procedures and utilizes data from the tests.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assesses the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by law and district policy.
• Takes all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students.
• Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of students.Works effectively with the FFA alumni group and an involved network of community/parent partners in support of the program as a whole.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) where applicable.
• Attends and participates in faculty and in-service meetings.
• Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as requested.
• Supervises students at all times according to the building schedule.
• Is prompt in assuming assigned duties.
• Cares for and protects school equipment, supplies, materials, facilities.
• Treats all confidential information on students in a proper manner.
• Maintains daily lesson planning in advance as required by building policy.
• Maintains long range planning and establishes performance goals and objectives.
• Prepares adequate instructions and lesson plans for a substitute teacher for typical days of absence.
• Performs all teaching duties and responsibilities in a manner that could be reasonably expected of a teacher by the teaching profession.
• Uses management techniques that will help prevent and ease discipline problems in the classroom, playground and general school area.
• Maintains accurate inventory list of materials and equipment assigned to the teacher.
• Submits itemized budget lists in timely fashion.
• Creates an effective environment for learning through attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest areas.
• Where appropriate instructs students in completion of high school competencies.
• All of the above are to be used in conjunction with the appropriate job description (i.e. social studies, English, counselor, etc.)

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated at annually by the principal or designee.
