Job summary
AmeriCorps State / National member in West Virginia will work with the High Rocks-Monroe County Coalition for Children and Families to support families and youth through tutoring and outreach.
You will recruit volunteers, coordinate events, and help provide resources and referrals to local agencies for homelessness, food insecurity, and other services.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse community members.
- Leadership and teamwork in volunteer settings.
- Experience in education or working with youths is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for outreach events.
- Provide resource materials and referrals to local agencies.
- Lead after-school tutoring sessions for K-12 students (weekly for 6 weeks).

The Monroe County Coalition for Children and Families works to facilitate and establish a system of prevention, education, and early intervention activities aimed at enabling families and children to reach their fullest potential through community based, planning activities for Monroe County and such other activities as described and established in accordance with 49-6C-2 of the West Virginia Code.
Work with families and community members to provide resource materials and referrals to local agencies for homelessness, substance abuse, food insecurity, domestic violence, utility assistance, and other services. Participate in food and clothing distribution to community members. They will recruit and coordinate volunteers and serve as support on all outreach events offered. Member will lead after school tutoring sessions forK-12 students once a week for 6 weeks.
