Job summary

The Perinatal Sonographer at Howard University participates in patient ultrasound care under physician supervision, specializing in high-risk obstetric imaging. You will perform various fetal examinations, assist in invasive procedures, and report results to guide patient management in a collaborative team.

This full-time role offers a 4-day work week to support work‑life balance while maintaining high standards of patient safety, privacy, and quality in the sonographic laboratory.

Qualifications

• Curriculum in diagnostic medical sonography or equivalent background.
• ARDMS in Obstetrics and Gynecology (registered or Registry-eligible).
• Prefer one-year OB experience or internship in obstetrics or MFM clinic.
• Nuchal translucency certification through NTQR or Fetal Maternal Foundation.
• BLS/CPR certification preferred.
• Associate degree preferred; new graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Perform all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
• Prepare accurate and comprehensive preliminary reports.
• Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine physicians, genetic counselors, nurses, and referring providers.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safety and infection control.
• Assist in invasive procedures such as amniocentesis.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families.
