Job summary

MediaAlpha is seeking a Software Engineer to join our technology team. This hybrid role requires 3 days in office (Tue-Thu) and offers the chance to design, implement, and scale systems that process tens of thousands of high-value transactions daily.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of software development experience, a BS in a technical field, strong Unix/Linux and Perl skills, and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach to producing clean, maintainable code.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in software development.
• BS degree, preferably in a technical field.
• Unix/Linux development experience.
• Experience using web APIs.
• Strong core software engineering practices.
• Ability to write elegant, readable code.
• Organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Clear communication skills.
• Amazon EC2 experience is a bonus.
• MySQL or other RDBMS experience is a bonus.
• Perl and/or scripting languages experience is a bonus.
• Experience with production systems is a bonus.
• Experience in a team with engineers; non-technical stakeholders a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle of implementing high-performance ad serving software.
• Integrate our products with our partners.
• Perl code development in a Linux environment, on Amazon EC2, leveraging also S3, CloudFront and Route 53.
• Work as a member of the team, jumping in to help out and resolve routine issues.
• Be part of a team that maintains and supports our live MediaAlpha Exchange product.
