Job summary

Rising Ground in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a driven Credible Messenger to join the ATLAS Project, a Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety initiative. You will engage youth at elevated risk of violence, build trust, and connect them to positive supports.

This full-time role requires evenings, flexible hours, and the ability to travel across New York City. You will work with families, clinicians, and community partners to create a coordinated network of care and safety.

Qualifications

• Lived experience and strong community connections are highly valued.
• Experience working with youth, families, or communities affected by violence.
• Ability to build trust with youth who may not trust adults or services.
• Willingness to travel throughout New York City.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with approximately 15–25 youth.
• Meet with youth regularly, in person, to discuss needs and goals.
• Meet youth where they are—in homes, schools, neighborhoods, and community settings.
• Mentor youth and connect them to resources and opportunities.
• Respond to immediate, emergency, and safety concerns and communicate with the clinical team.
• Collaborate with FFT Therapists, Case Managers, and the Lead Therapist to support progress.
• Maintain clear, timely notes about contacts and engagement.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings.
• Maintain flexible scheduling including evenings and nontraditional hours.
