Job summary

Rising Ground, Inc. seeks a driven Credible Messenger for the ATLAS Project in Brooklyn to engage youth at elevated risk of violence. You will build trust, meet youths where they are, and connect them to services with support from clinical staff.

The role requires strong community ties, flexibility to work evenings, and travel throughout New York City. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits accompany this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Lived experience and strong community connections are highly valued.
• Experience working with youth, families, or communities impacted by violence or the juvenile/criminal legal system.
• Ability to connect with young people and build trust, especially those who may not want services.
• Willingness to work evenings and flexible hours; travel within NYC may be required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with approximately 15–25 youth.
• Meet with youth regularly, in person, to discuss needs and goals.
• Visit youth in homes, schools, neighborhoods, or community settings.
• Build trust with youth who may distrust adults or systems.
• Use lived experience and community knowledge to keep youth engaged in programs.
• Mentor youth and connect them to resources and opportunities.
• Address immediate safety needs in coordination with clinical staff.
• Collaborate with FFT Therapists, Case Managers, and Lead Therapist.
• Support therapists in connecting with youth and building relationships.
• Engage families and community partners to strengthen engagement.
• Participate in community outreach and interventions to reach youth.
