Lewis & Clark Law School is seeking an experienced Major Gift Officer to join the Development & Alumni Office and advance its philanthropic mission. The MGO will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, and friends for gifts of $10,000 and above, building long‑term relationships aligned with Law School priorities.

The role blends major gift fundraising with board engagement, requiring travel and collaboration across campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of successful major gift fundraising, donor relations, or related high‑level relationship management.
• Proven success in soliciting major gifts and closing multi‑year commitments.
• Experience managing boards, high‑level volunteer committees, or advisory councils.
• Experience with donor databases (Slate, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly and attend occasional events.

Responsabilités

• Manage a portfolio of 120‑150 high‑capacity prospects for major gifts $10,000+.
• Identify, qualify, and cultivate new major gift prospects while renewing and upgrading annual donors.
• Conduct regular face‑to‑face meetings with donors and regional prospects.
• Travel by car or air as needed to strengthen donor relationships.
• Leverage alumni events to maximize donor visits and opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Law School Development & Alumni team, Dean, faculty, and volunteers.
• Develop and advance planned giving prospects through strategic cultivation and stewardship.
• Build trusted relationships by understanding donor interests and aligning with priorities.
• Maintain comprehensive donor records in Slate with up‑to‑date interactions and plans.
• Articulate priorities and impact of the Law School to diverse audiences.
