Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) for our High Acuity Medical Stepdown Team in St. Louis. You will work under RN/LPN direction to provide individualized patient care and support to a medically complex population.

The role offers part- and full-time schedules with day and night shifts, a sign-on bonus, and opportunities to train in Mercy’s accredited PCA program and bedside skills in a busy unit.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC certification or enrollment in healthcare career program.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Certifications: BLS within one month; PCA competencies within three months.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and enter data into the electronic medical record.
• Assist patients with daily needs (meals, bathing, toileting, mobility).
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• For PCT: perform phlebotomy and blood cultures; administer enteral feeds; provide wound care; remove IVs and Foley catheters; perform tracheostomy care and suctioning.
