Position is located in the Ahoskie Resident’s Office. This position involves technical work supporting technicians and engineers as the lead HiCams/Office Technician. This position will ensure all HiCams related functions are in compliance with contract agreements, standards and specifications. Position requires the performance of a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing and processing field data. Work involves decision making and the use of judgment. Employee must perform a full range of calculations and computations and be proficient in record keeping. Additional duties include creating requisitions for managing inventory, administering payroll/time entry in the SAP system, processing reports in SAP, reviewing project budgets in SAP, reviewing contractor’s certified payrolls for FHWA compliance and scheduling, and maintaining technician’s certifications. Work may include other office duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Experience with contract administration
  • Knowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards and specifications
  • Working knowledge of computer equipment (iPads, desktop), software (HiCams and SharePoint), and mathematical functions
  • Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry

Additional Expectations

The position will be responsible for all required HiCams and SAP entries for project records, materials and estimates as well as tracking DBE participation and technician certifications. Lead HiCams technicians are responsible for HiCams function including processing monthly and final estimates, checking calculations, resolving pay record and material quantity discrepancies, researching project documents, processing material prepayments. Ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form. Ability to establish positive lines of communication between technicians and engineers. Ability to manage/maintain multiple projects/deadlines. Knowledge of highway construction and materials testing. Must be able to legally operate a State vehicle. Note: preference will be given to applicants with HiCams experience.

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
