Dallas County is seeking a skilled HHW Program Assistant to support the Home Chemical Collection Center and Household Hazardous Waste operations. The role involves hands-on handling of home chemicals, coordinating pickups, and supervising staff in the absence of the HHW Program Coordinator.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Chemistry and at least one year of hazardous waste experience, with strong knowledge of safety procedures and public outreach.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field.
• One year of experience in hazardous waste management or related field.

Responsabilités

• Participates in home chemical collection and hazardous waste pickups.
• Prepares shipments for recycling, treatment or disposal per regulations.
• Educates the public on hazardous waste programs and options.
• Assists in developing safety procedures and emergency response plans.
• Supervises staff in the absence of the HHW Program Coordinator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
