Job summary

Dallas County seeks a HHW Specialist to assist in managing the Home Chemical Collection Center and Household Hazardous Waste processes. You will lead hands-on teams during collection events, handle shipments for recycling or disposal, and help educate the public on hazardous waste programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Chemistry or related field.
• At least 1 year of hazardous waste management experience.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and Class A CDL within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in collecting chemical products and arranges home/off-site pickups of HHW.
• Receives, identifies, segregates, stores and prepares HHW shipments for recycling, treatment or disposal per regs.
• Responds to inquiries and educates the public on hazardous waste programs and options.
• Assists in developing safety standards and procedures and supports spill control and emergency response.
• Supervises staff and coordinates collection activities in the absence of the HHW Program Coordinator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
