Job summary

Urban Health Plan is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers across internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN and other services. The role includes room preparation, patient intake, vital signs, and assisting during exams in a fully onsite setting in the Bronx and Corona, Queens.

The position requires a High School Diploma and Medical Assistant Certificate, 1 year healthcare experience, and bilingual English/Spanish.

Position Summary

Individuals being considered for this role may be invited to attend a special holiday hiring event that we are holding on Wednesday December 16th. Individuals selected will have a start date in January of 2027.Position Summary:As a Medical Assistant at Urban Health Plan, you will support providers in the areas of internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, specialists, and other support servicesPrepares examination rooms, maintains inventory, and sterilizes instruments.Obtain vital signs, chief complaint, medical history and records in electronic medical records.Assists providers during all aspects of exams.Assists provider with treatments.Maintain clinical logs including glucometers and room logs.Registers and verifies patient demographics.Maintains clinical logs including glucometers and room logs.Performs CLIA Waived testing, EKGs, and other tests.*Schedules appointments and recalls patients for required services.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma required along with Medical Assistant Certificate from accredited program required. 1 year of previous experience working in healthcare setting.
Bilingual English and Spanish RequiredFlexible work scheduleProficiency with computers and software (previous experience with electronic health records is a plus)Excellent communication skills.Ability to multi-task, support a team and work independently.*Kindness, compassion, and patient-focused approach.

Compensation

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule

This position is a fully onsite role. We have openings available in the Bronx and in Corona, Queens. Candidates must have availability to commit to a schedule of 40 hours per week, working Monday through Friday, Tuesday through Saturday, or Monday through Friday with rotating Saturday shifts depending on the location. Schedule includes 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and/or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
