Job summary

Right at Home Charleston is looking for compassionate Home Health Aides to support seniors and adults with disabilities in the Kiawah area. You will provide personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and essential companionship with a flexible schedule to fit your life.

Training is provided, and you’ll work in a supportive team that values dignity and safety. A valid driver’s license is preferred; a background check and drug screen will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• CPR certification recommended.
• 6 months Home Health Aide experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist with eating and personal hygiene.
• Assist with dressing, shaving, and light housekeeping.
• Laundry and other household chores as needed.
• Medication reminders and range of motion exercises assistance.
• Provide companionship through reading, music, puzzles, etc.

• Usually honest, energetic, and approachable, able to get along and communicate easily with people at all levels.
• Always have a smile and take real pride in work; cope well under pressure and thrive on a challenge.
• Don’t mind getting a little dirty; may include assistance with eating, personal hygiene, dressing, shaving, light housekeeping, laundry, and other household chores.
• Can prepare a good meal and work your way around a kitchen.
• Can assist client in many ways including medication reminders, assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises, dementia care, companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.

Must Haves

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
• You must have a high school diploma or GED
• Meets the requirements for employees providing direct patient care
• Must have ability to pass a full employment background check and drug screen
• Must have completed a Competency Evaluation that meets the State licensing law for home health agencies
• Current CPR Certificate is recommended
• 6 months of experience as a Home Health Aide in health care (in homes or facilities) and successful completion of a State‑approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide course is encouraged.
