Job summary

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a safety-focused professional to support routine operations and major maintenance activities in Findlay, Ohio, with additional locations across the country. This role contributes to safety program development, conducts audits, and leads investigations into incidents to prevent recurrence.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant experience or a Bachelor's in HES, plus completion of MPC's HESS internship.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in HES related field with no relevant experience.
  • Successful completion of a Marathon Petroleum HESS internship.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
  • Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
  • Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards; analyzes safety performance data to identify trends and proposes recommendations.
  • Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents.
  • Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, including input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, Life Critical work support and input on other regulatory programs.
  • Develops safety-related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meetings, notices, and bulletins.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED required with 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in HES related field with no relevant experience
  • Successful completion of a Marathon Petroleum HESS internship.
