Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Architectural Technologist to join a heritage-focused practice in Paarl. The role centers on conserving, restoring, and adapting historic buildings, ensuring long-term viability and character.

You will collaborate with conservation architects and heritage consultants, delivering detailed technical documentation, condition assessments, and heritage-compliant specifications for restoration projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of experience, with demonstrable involvement in heritage conservation projects.
• Proficiency in CAD software and understanding of materials commonly used in historic buildings.
• Knowledge of South African heritage legislation and guidelines (e.g., NHBRC for heritage aspects).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and sensitivity to historical context.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical documentation for the conservation and restoration of heritage buildings.
• Conduct condition assessments and propose appropriate interventions for historic structures.
• Ensure all work complies with heritage guidelines and relevant conservation principles.
• Coordinate with specialist sub-consultants, craftspeople, and regulatory bodies.
• Develop specifications for materials and methods appropriate for heritage restoration projects.
