Job summary

Northwell Health's Danbury Hospital is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Hepatology and Liver Transplant program. The PA will provide outpatient and inpatient care, participate in pre- and post-transplant management, and work with a multidisciplinary team to treat chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver transplant patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Eligible for or currently holding a Connecticut Physician Assistant license.
• Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and Federal DEA registration.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience preferred, with hepatology/gastroenterology/transplant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• New and established outpatient hepatology visits.
• Inpatient consultation and management of advanced liver disease.
• Pre‑transplant evaluation and optimization of liver transplant candidates.
• Post‑transplant follow‑up and coordination of care.
• Management of complications of cirrhosis (ascites, encephalopathy, GI bleeding, portal hypertension).
• Monitoring and management of chronic viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, and MASLD.
• Liver cancer surveillance and coordination of care for hepatocellular carcinoma.
• Medication management and patient education.
• Coordination of laboratory testing, imaging, procedures, and referrals.
• Patient and family education regarding liver disease and transplantation.
• Close communication with referring physicians and transplant centers.
• Participation in quality improvement and program development initiatives.
