Abbott is seeking an HEOR Director to advance the Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics HEOR function. You will lead global strategies, integrate regional insights, and guide evidence generation to demonstrate value across healthcare systems.

You will oversee modeling, real-world evidence, and HTA/payer discussions, shaping long-range planning and ensuring a high-performing, aligned team culture. This role requires strategic leadership across a complex matrix organization.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree with strong industry experience in HEOR, Health Economics, or Epidemiology.
  • 10+ years in diagnostics or POC diagnostics with healthcare knowledge.
  • 5+ years in HEOR, Clinical Research, Epidemiology, or Health Policy.
  • Strong financial modeling, literature reviews, and evidence generation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement global HEOR strategies aligning with Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics Value Strategy.
  • Develop global value dossiers and review health economic data, PROs, and epidemiologic data.
  • Lead HEOR model development, market research, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Manage annual HEOR Long Range Planning and deliver strategic recommendations.

Job description

This HEOR Director will act as a pivitol resource in helping to develop the HEOR function within Abbott's Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics teams. This individual will support the Rapid and Molecular business units, and will be responsible for leaading the development and execution of global HEOR startegies to demonstrate and communnicate the value of diagnostics, integrating regional insights, driving cross-function colaboration, managing evidence generation and value tools, guiding long-range planning, and fostering a high-performing, and aligned team culture.

  • Responsible for leadership in formulating, consolidating, and implementing HEOR strategies that advance testing and access to testing as fundamental to and enablers of healthcare and access to care. Ensure that (sub)regional HEOR perspectives and strategies are integrated to the Rapid & Molecular diagnostics Value Strategy
  • Accountable to develop HEOR strategies and tactics that are evidence based, scientifically and technically valid, patient and medically relevant; of clinical, humanistic, and economical import.
  • Responsible for development, management and delivery of global value dossier and review of adapted regional/local health economic, comparative effectiveness, patient reported outcomes, and epidemiologic data, and real world evidence, cost effectiveness analyses/-modeling, and Health Technology Assessment reimbursement
  • Prioritize & stage development of HEOR toolset planning within investment constraints and aligned with business priorities and annual planning.
  • Ensure next generation of products demonstrate value by collaborating and influencing stakeholders across different business units and divisions.
  • Direct the development of rigorous HEOR models and value stories supported by market research and informed by cross functional assumptions.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual HEOR Long Range Planning strategy process (OEM) including project managing, completing template deliverables, providing information inputs and strategic recommendation.
  • Create a work culture/climate that attracts, develops, and retains top talent at all levels.
  • Deliver proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the executive leadership teams and matrix stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the cross-divisional and cross-functional team members work as “one team.”
Requirements:
  • Advanced Degree (MBA, MPH, PhD, MD) with consideration for MPH or other advanced degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare Economics or Epidemiology with relevant advanced industry experience
  • 10+ years of experience in diagnostics (preferred) or point of care diagnostics fields with strong knowledge of healthcare industry
  • 5+ years relevant experience in at least one of the following fields: Health Economics, Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Health Policy
  • Demonstrated robust analytical individual skills related to financial modeling, healthcare utilization, systematic literature reviews, scientific analytics, ongoing performance – the ability to execute independently and through others while maintaining a high-standard of deliverables
  • Thorough understanding of global guidelines as they relate to HEOR and Medical Affairs, as well as expertise in global HTA/payer reimbursement and market access requirements
  • Global experience working across cultures and understanding market requirements
  • Leadership and intrapersonal skills to ensure that the vision is shared, understood and executed against by colleagues across the world in a complex matrix organization
  • Ability to earn followership and be an active and collaborative thought partner both within team and across the organization
