The Nutrition Group is seeking a Substitute Food Service Worker to join Hempfield School District's Greensburg kitchen. This on‑call position supports meal preparation, portioning, serving, and sanitation in accordance with USDA guidelines.

Candidates should have reliable transportation, the ability to read recipes and perform basic math, and a positive work ethic. Food service experience is preferred; background checks and clearances are required; you will assist with cost controls and cash

About the Job:

This substitute food service worker position will be working in a local school kitchen/cafeteria on an as‑needed basis.

Responsibilities include:

• Cooking and food preparation
• Portioning and serving food
• Sanitation in conjunction with USDA and state guidelines
• HAACP and health department regulation compliance
• Assisting to monitor costs and inventory controls
• Operating a cash register/money handling
• Manual Dishwashing/ Cleaning duties

Qualifications:

• Must obtain clearances and pass criminal background checks
• Ability to read recipes and basic math skills required
• A positive and consistent work ethic
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• A willingness to learn and grow within your position
• Food service experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements May Include:
