Job summary

SSM Health Beaver Dam Dialysis Center in Wisconsin is seeking a certified Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) to join our day shift team. The role entails a 32-hour workweek with a 5:15am–4:30pm schedule and every 3rd weekend rotation, performing dialysis procedures under RN supervision.

Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED, one year of dialysis experience, and NNCC CCHT certification along with BLS. Work location includes Beaver Dam and Fond du Lac clinics.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 10 years of work experience.
• CCHT certification recognized by NNCC.
• BLS HCP certification from AHA.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for procedures by taking vital statistics and reviewing dialysis orders and lab work.
• Sets up and monitors equipment for procedures both during and after.
• Notes and documents patient's condition during procedure via observation, interview and monitoring of vital statistics; reports abnormal assessment findings.
• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Obtains, processes and transports blood samples and culture specimens as ordered.
• Demonstrates proficiency in performing dialysis treatments and in cannulation of vascular access.
• Monitors and troubleshoots dialysis machine and RO/water system.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to include collection of data and machine maintenance.

Job Summary

Provides direct or indirect care to a varying number of patients and performs various functions associated with hemodialysis treatments independently and under the direction of a registered nurse.

Experience

• Minimum one year of Chronic and/or Acute Hemodialysis experience

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing and walking.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
• Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
• Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving patients.
• Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
• Occasional driving.
