Job summary

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital seeks a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician to support routine hemodialysis procedures. The role involves patient prep, machine setup, and close monitoring under RN supervision.

Requirements include at least two years of CCHT experience, with acute dialysis experience preferred; BLS HCP certification is required. Department: Regional Float- Dialysis.

Qualifications

  • Two years of CCHT experience; acute dialysis experience preferred.
  • Minimum one year of chronic or acute hemodialysis experience.
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS HCP) required.
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician NNCC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for procedures by taking vitals and reviewing dialysis orders.
  • Set up and monitor dialysis equipment during and after procedures.
  • Document patient condition and report abnormal findings to an RN.
  • Assist in data collection for QA and participate in machine maintenance.
  • Ensure safety and accuracy during cannulation and machine operation.

Department : Regional Float- Dialysis

Schedule: M-W-F 6am-1830pm, can sometimes vary.

Job Summary: Provides direct or indirect care to a varying number of patients and performs various functions associated with hemodialysis treatments independently and under the direction of a registered nurse.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for procedures by taking vital statistics and reviewing dialysis orders and lab work.
  • Sets up and monitors equipment for procedures both during and after.
  • Notes and documents patient\'s condition during procedure via observation, interview and monitoring of vital statistics; reports abnormal assessment findings.
  • Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  • Obtains, processes and transports blood samples and culture specimens as ordered.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing dialysis treatments and in cannulation of vascular access.
  • Monitors and trouble shoots dialysis machine and RO/water system.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to include collection of data and machine maintenance.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

Experience

  • Minimum one year of Chronic and/or Acute Hemodialysis experience

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.
