Job summary

The Staff Scientist role at Washington University in St. Louis supports the Hematopathology section by coordinating day-to-day operations and ensuring timely diagnostic testing.

You will work with hematopathologists, lab staff, and clinicians to streamline complex workflows and improve turnaround times. Ideal candidates have a strong background in laboratory medicine and hematology, experience with flow cytometry and bone marrow testing, and the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Laboratory Operations experience (3 years) required.
  • ASCP Certification preferred.
  • Ph.D. preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs research protocols under the principal investigator and manages data collection/verification.
  • Performs complex statistical analyses and writes interpretative reports.
  • Documents topics and prepares papers for publication or presentation.
  • Identifies equipment or testing issues and suggests improvements.
  • Coordinates bone marrow cases and flow cytometry results; coordinates ancillary testing.

Master’s degree
Ph.D. - Doctor of Philosophy
